I know that I might be kind of annoying for some to start a whole new thread just to ask for one request for FIFA 09, but I find this request very important and possible to be made, hence posting it in its own thread.
The Suggestion:
Basically Removing all in-match cut-scenes and replacing them with in-game none stop animation system that I will call: "Animatics"
The Theory:
FIFA 08 and older releases always relayed on building and applying what is known as "cut-scenes", and this method has worked well during old-gen gaming for many reasons, including the need of load times and making the game more of a movie type of thing. I personally believe that FIFA 08 on next-gen (at least) has built a new path for FIFA coming series; new for the gamers and the developers as well, and finding the right solutions based on the new engine are much easier. I must say that one of the things that makes me feel other competing football games more real is not only because of player animations or ball physics but it also comes to camera positioning and action direction. In real life, when a player commits a foul and the camera changes to a different unit on the field the player who committed the foul and the injured player are "logically" standing in the same place or area our inner brains wants us to believe, but in FIFA series cut-scenes always ruin that feeling of "logic" hence making our inner brain confused; we might not feel it at that moment, our brain process will make us hate something about it, and then call it "not real".
The Replacement:
Other competing football game titles have managed to do my idea but without refining player face reactions and body physics as EA did with FIFA 08, making each game title better than the other in some way. I believe that FIFA 09 should include a new revamped animatic system to replace in-match cut-scenes. These animatics should be flowing like a player's jump or a player's run, and when a player falls on the ground the camera should change into a zoomed position and keep running the animatics as if nothing other than the camera has moved; With this implanted in the game we can see some player running to the side line and picking a bottle of water while the referee stops two players from arguing with each other, and if a player is on the ground the teammates around him can look to the direction of the referee and call him to blow the whistle for medical assistance, this form of action was introduced in FIFA 08, but need to be implemented in a new way, just like what I explained. Animatics should be in huge numbers; if the player falls on his back we should have 5+ animations for CPU to pick from, and if the player is in offside the defense of the other team should be looking towards the referee during protest that the player is in offside, and this brings up the issue of having good referee timing, or in other words "real" time for judging on a foul or an offside meaning that the referee shouldn't blow the whistle in the exact millisecond the player committed the foul. give the game more space and slower CPU responses with the animatics system.
The Tech View:
Cut-scenes have to take some space in the overall game capacity on the playable media (disk), and replacing them with these built-in-game animatics would and should not be a problem. The main trick here is to tweak the FIFA engine to make it start an animatic sequence for some actions within the field and during the gameplay without having any black fades (cuts) or transitions. EA has already introduced such technology in making the players' foots follow the ball, which it proved on its own to be very reliable technology and very realistic reaction; the fluidity of the moving legs and foots makes a very good proof to what I am trying to suggest.
The Conclusion:
A very fluid game, no cuts, no inner-mind hate and the best of all, unlimited actions with clean, logical physics within the field and without the need of watching some action over and over again with the same reaction and the same field position.
My Take:
I wish I could be inside the EA studios and labs so that I can explain more and direct a bunch more. I would love to see this game competing with other genres when talking about quality and realism.
Take care, and good luck on FIFA 09!
like in fifa 98

but that's not the point in football. Nowdays football replaces war
so the ultras, the hoolignas, las hinchas are na spine cord of the
game. Whithout them there would be no great football. In many clubs
they somehow reflect directly upon the squad list, the changes of the manager and even of the president.
SO...EA HAS TO INVOLVE THE STADIUM, THE CROWD, THE ULTRAS,
THE HOOLIGANS IN THE GAME.
Fights, fireworks, breaking the stands, police, players hit by flying objects,
banners with tipical symbols and logos, tipical for each fraction chanting,
even clashes outside the stadium. And of course, great influence of all that to the
situation on the pitch, the players, the score...
If even part of all that is presented in FIFA 09 the game will be
real masterpiece. Not just game for the game, but real simulation of what is most important after the bread. You know in Roman Empire...
Give the game to the real fans. We'll worship it.
For these players to have faces:
Nicolas Anelka
Branislav Ivanovic
John Obi Mikel
Sergio Aguero
Micah Richards
Royston Drenthe
