Traits in FIFA 22 are in-game characteristics that provide players unique skills and play styles.
Not all player traits & specialities function in the same way, some may affect how the player performs on the field, while others may only have an effect when the player is controlled by the CPU AI.
In FIFA Ultimate Team, Player Traits are assigned to players by EA based on their real life performance. Traits are not dynamic in FUT and won’t even be updated on dynamic cards. Player Attributes can be checked out from the Player Details screen by pressing R3 button on a FUT player card.
In the Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Volta Football, some traits can be acquired by growing player skills or from a specific skill tree.
Categories
The following are the five different trait categories in FIFA:
- Standard traits have an affect on how a player plays, both when played by a user and when controlled by the CPU AI.
- CPU AI traits impact the way that a player plays but only when it is controlled by the CPU AI.
- Career Mode traits have an impact in Career Mode only, but they have no impact on the way that players perform during actual gameplay.
- Virtual Pro traits unlock different things for your Virtual Pro in Player Career Mode or FIFA Pro Clubs.
- Volta Football traits impact the way that a player performs in Volta mode, both when played by a user and when controlled by the CPU AI. All that standard traits will also usually carry over into Volta mode, unless they specifically declare differently.
