FC 27 Evolutions

FC 27 Evolutions Guide

One of the biggest additions to FC 27 Ultimate Team is Evolutions 2.0. The redesigned system gives you greater control over player development, allowing eligible footballers to receive attribute boosts, new positions, Roles, PlayStyles, cosmetic designs, and other permanent upgrades.

Evolutions 2.0 expands player customization with branching upgrade choices, improved previews, and the ability to remove previous Evolutions. This makes it easier to create unique footballers that suit your squad, formation, and playing style.

What Are Evolutions in FC 27?

Evolutions are upgrade paths for eligible player items in Ultimate Team. Instead of relying only on promotional cards, you can develop players already in your club by completing a series of challenges.

Each Evolution has its own entry requirements, upgrade levels, objectives, rewards, and expiration dates. Depending on the Evolution, completing its challenges can improve attributes, weak foot ability, Skill Moves, positions, Roles, PlayStyles, PlayStyles+, rarity, and card design.

The system can transform lower-rated players, young prospects, club favourites, and less popular cards into competitive options that remain useful for longer.

What Is New in Evolutions 2.0?

Evolutions 2.0 introduces several important improvements to player development in FC 27 Ultimate Team.

Branching Upgrade Choices

Some Evolution levels now include multiple reward choices. Instead of every player receiving exactly the same upgrade, you can select the development path that best matches your plans.

One option might improve pace and dribbling, while another could focus on passing, defending, physical attributes, Roles, or PlayStyles. These choices make evolved players more personal and allow the same base item to develop differently across separate clubs.

Remove Evolutions

FC 27 allows you to remove the most recent Evolution applied to a player or clear all of that player's Evolutions at once. This gives you more freedom to correct an upgrade decision, return to an earlier version, or prepare the item for a different development path.

Tradable player items regain their tradable status when their Evolutions are removed, making the feature more flexible for cards originally purchased from the Transfer Market.

Extended Evolution Preview

Eligible players can be previewed with additional Evolutions beyond the current upgrade. This helps you understand how an item could develop through a longer Evolution chain before committing your player.

The extended preview makes it easier to compare possible outcomes, plan future upgrades, and avoid choosing a path that could limit the player's long-term potential.

Types of Evolutions

  • Attribute Evolutions: Improve attributes such as pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, physicality, or goalkeeper abilities.
  • PlayStyle Evolutions: Add or upgrade PlayStyles and PlayStyles+ that enhance specific on-pitch abilities.
  • Position Evolutions: Add a new playing position to make a footballer more versatile.
  • Role Evolutions: Unlock or improve player Roles and Role familiarity for selected positions.
  • Skill Evolutions: Upgrade Skill Moves or weak foot ability.
  • Cosmetic Evolutions: Apply special card designs, backgrounds, colours, and campaign themes.
  • Goalkeeper Evolutions: Improve goalkeeper attributes, PlayStyles, Roles, and distribution abilities.
  • Branching Evolutions: Allow you to choose between different upgrades at selected levels.

How Evolutions Work

  1. Choose an Evolution: Open the Evolutions menu and review the available upgrade programmes.
  2. Check the Requirements: Each Evolution may restrict overall rating, position, attributes, rarity, league, nation, PlayStyles, or other item characteristics.
  3. Select an Eligible Player: Compare suitable players in FC 27 and preview their potential upgrades.
  4. Confirm the Evolution: Submit the chosen player and activate the Evolution.
  5. Complete the Challenges: Fulfil objectives involving matches, goals, assists, wins, clean sheets, or other gameplay requirements.
  6. Choose Your Upgrade: Select your preferred reward when an Evolution level contains multiple branches.
  7. Claim the Level: Apply the completed upgrades to your player and continue to the next stage.

Evolution Levels and Challenges

Most Evolutions contain several levels. Each level includes a group of challenges and a corresponding set of upgrades. You must complete and claim the current level before progressing to the next one.

Challenges can require you to use the active Evolution player in modes such as Squad Battles, Division Rivals, Champions, Rush, or Live Events. Common requirements include:

  • Playing a specified number of matches
  • Winning matches with the Evolution player in your squad
  • Scoring or assisting with the player
  • Keeping clean sheets
  • Playing at a required difficulty level
  • Completing objectives within a particular game mode

Evolution Requirements

Not every player can enter every Evolution. Entry requirements are used to control which items are eligible and may include:

  • Maximum or minimum overall rating
  • Required position or alternate position
  • Maximum values for selected attributes
  • Maximum number of PlayStyles or PlayStyles+
  • Specific rarity or item type
  • Club, league, nation, or gender requirements
  • Previous Evolution history
  • Required Skill Moves or weak foot rating

A player must satisfy every listed condition before they can be submitted. Use the eligible-player filter and upgrade preview to compare your available options.

Evolution Chains

An Evolution chain is created when the same player completes multiple compatible Evolutions. A card upgraded early in the season may later qualify for another programme, allowing it to continue developing throughout the Ultimate Team cycle.

Evolutions 2.0 makes chain planning easier by showing additional eligible upgrade possibilities in the player preview. However, every upgrade changes the player's attributes, rarity, Roles, and PlayStyles, so completing one Evolution can make the item eligible or ineligible for another.

Always inspect the complete upgrade and possible future paths before committing a valuable player.

Free and Paid Evolutions

FC 27 includes both free and paid Evolutions. Free Evolutions can be activated without an entry fee, while premium Evolutions may require FC 27 Coins, FC Points, Tokens, or another specified entry method.

A paid Evolution is not automatically the best option for every card. Compare its total upgrades, challenge requirements, expiration date, and alternative players before spending Ultimate Team currency.

Why Use Evolutions?

  • Greater Personalization: Build unique versions of players around your preferred formation and tactics.
  • Meaningful Choices: Select different upgrade branches instead of receiving only one predetermined outcome.
  • Player Longevity: Keep favourite footballers competitive as stronger cards enter the game.
  • Squad Variety: Develop players outside the most commonly used leagues, clubs, and nations.
  • Better Chemistry Options: Upgrade players who provide useful club, league, or nationality links.
  • Flexible Development: Remove previous Evolutions when you want to reconsider a player's path.
  • Long-Term Planning: Preview potential Evolution chains before committing to an upgrade.

How to Choose the Best Player for an Evolution

  • Preview Every Upgrade: Check the final attributes, Roles, positions, PlayStyles, Skill Moves, and weak foot rating.
  • Compare Every Branch: Choose the reward path that addresses the player's most important weaknesses.
  • Consider the Body Type: Height, body type, animations, and preferred foot can strongly influence in-game performance.
  • Plan for Your Formation: Select upgrades that suit the position and tactical role you actually use.
  • Check Future Eligibility: Avoid unnecessary boosts that could prevent entry into another desirable Evolution.
  • Prioritize Useful PlayStyles: Choose PlayStyles that complement the player's position and attributes.
  • Review Chemistry Links: Players from useful clubs, leagues, and nations can be easier to include in hybrid squads.
  • Check the Deadline: Make sure you have enough time to activate and complete the Evolution.

Tips for Completing Evolutions Faster

  • Combine Evolution challenges with Objectives whenever their requirements overlap.
  • Use the lowest permitted Squad Battles difficulty when a higher level is unnecessary.
  • Place several objective-related players in the same squad to progress multiple tasks together.
  • Read each challenge carefully to confirm whether the Evolution player must start, score, assist, or simply appear in the squad.
  • Claim completed levels promptly so progress toward the next level can begin.
  • Prioritize Evolutions with the earliest activation or completion deadlines.
  • Use Rush or other short match formats when they count toward appearance-based objectives.

Evolution Expiration Dates

An Evolution can have separate activation and completion deadlines. The activation deadline is the final date on which an eligible player can enter the Evolution. The completion deadline is the final date for finishing its challenges and claiming all remaining levels.

Activating an Evolution does not necessarily remove its completion deadline. Check both timers before selecting a player, particularly when the programme includes several lengthy challenge groups.
