2010 FIFA World Cup - Your Feedback

I love the World Cup editions of FIFA Soccer, but I can not rate them any higher than 4 stars out of five because of a lack of a truly deep international setup in its campaign mode. I find it rather disappointing that they never capitalise on the fact that the game should be more about the passion and pageantry of international football than just the world cup. If EA just wants to cash in on the World Cup in its particular year that's fine, but there should be an alternative game that includes all the zonal championships: African Cup of Nations, Asian Cup, Euro, Concacaf Gold Cup, Copa America, Oceania, including FIFA Confederations Cup and the World Cup. You can also accept four nations invite tournaments and friendlies of course at some point in your international manager career. EA please get to making FIFA soccer National Teams Edition, we are aching for it.

This was pretty amazing better than FIFA 11 really it was the fact that you could be any team in the world weather they are good or bad and all the players were real, you could also properly lift the world cup with a proper presentation and the FIFA song which you can't do on FIFA 11, the penalty shoot out thing when you could go straight into it was really good and when you could select your teams that was cool, the only thing that would have been cooler is if the invisible Walls and no infringements addition would have been that were on world cup 2006 game and they were brilliant also when a game was on dusk it should have gone into night during the game like in the real world cup which is a tip for future FIFAs and the songs were really good and that's about it really goodbye bye

It was a lot better than fifa 10. The graphics weren't that good. fifa 12 is gonna be awesome. The best! EA sports rocks!

Paul G I think that's a pretty accurate assessment of most FIFA games although more apparent in WC 10. There are times in FIFA 11, where inexplicably any team I choose will be sluggish and sloppy anywhere up to 5 games or more sometimes. Even playing online with supposedly inferior opponents. There are times when it just seems like you weren't meant to win, and that is very frustrating. Hopefully they can rectify this in future edition.

That game was fun stuff I would like to see in Fifa 12 but the graphics were ok it was a little unrealistic.

I love this game but i dont get why when you win the world cup in captin your country you can't play any more games with that player?! Also can you transfer your player(s) to fifa 11 and continue their carerr?

There is one thing about this game that drives me nuts-- and that thats its rigged to a much greater extent than FIFA 10 or 11. Away games are incredibly difficult to win. Playing with Argentina, on world class difficulty, I'll beat someone like peru 6-0 at home, and then really struggle to even win when on the road.

I think this is because there is so much more variation in ability between the teams compared to in league play in FIFA 10 or 11, so EA Sports messed with their algorithms to make the computer more competitive. The result is a frustrating, and ofter seemingly arbitrary gaming experience. Whats frustrating is that you do not know when or why the game will start messing with you, and it does so inconsistently so its very hard to adapt.

The mechanisms for this are frustrating. The game play makes your own passing less accurate, so there are giveaways all over the place. Second, it makes your players bounce the ball far away from them when they receive a pass, so its very difficult to maintain possession in tight spaces. Third, fouls and penalties are called against you very liberally, especially for PKs. I played an entire PL season without a PK called against me in FIFA 10, then in important games (against even inferior opponents) will have 2-3. Its insane.

Additionally, there are times when the game takes over and the computer is unstoppable. Its programmed to score at certain times. I can tell when this is happening because my passes get sloppy, the computer speeds up, and the computer individuals become fiercely accurate and powerful in all their shots. In terms of speed, I've had a fully rested Messi chased down from behind by multiple defenders from Ireland on a breakaway. I know from qualifying with Ireland that none of those guys have anything like that speed. But in away games against me they freaking do.

I once, during a WC game, had France light on fire and score 3 goals in 10 minutes. 2 pks were called against me in that stretch. I hadn't given up 3 goals in a game in over 100 games in FIFA 10. I reset the game. Same thing happened next game, same time interval. And another PK called. When they got to 3 goals they let up and it was back to normal.

The game is rigged, and very inconsistent. I'm fine with and embrace difficulty, but it makes it difficult my impairing your own ability to do things, which is just frustrating, and the fact that its programmed to manifest certain programs makes it seem arbitrary whether you won or lost-- its no longer a game and its more like an interactive movie. Which is a TOTALLY different experience.

The lack of transparency with what they are doing compromises the integrity and value of the game. We play games because they teach us things about competing and learning, and learn an aggressive approach to solving problems and getting better. When there are opaque, inconsistently applied rules, the game loses its value, and becomes an interactive experience, like a movie, where the user is ceding control, and submitting to a level of manipulation for entertainment purposes. But it needs to be transparent. Otherwise they are just cheap tricks, and its not a good, fair transparent game.

So this is why I never play the WC game anymore.

There is a MAJOR GLITCH in the in game World Cup tournament regarding the qualification to the last 16 round. I came last in my group (4th) and still qualified to the knock out round!?!? This also happens to some AI teams that come 3rd or 4th but still make it to the knockout round over position 2 teams! Extremely annoying!!!

Why not 4 PC? i mean lots of people play fifa on pc? Why duz dis hav 2 happen?

The game was pretty good, was brighter than the actual tournament haha! Trophies were hard though. Especially because everyone online played with Spain, Germany, France or England.

amazing gameplay. I hope fifa 11 is something like the gameplay on world cup. much better than fifa 10!

This is a much more polished version of what Fifa 10 should have been if they released it a couple of weeks after :D

As a whole this is such a well presented and playable game, i would however change the following to ENHANCE the games atmosphere and reality.

1. Remove the confetti & fireworks from the opening of every WC match as this really looks silly
2. Add more flags and enhance the Vuvuzela sound loudness
3. Extend the national anthems and team entrances to the field (FIFA theme should play longer)
4. Alter and change the Penalty system (its sooooo poor!!!)
5. Commentry needs tweaking in places
6. Also needs to be more crowd excitement build on breaks and shots that hit the post and "boos/whistles" when fouls commited are near the box.

WC2010 is such a well made game but it really needs tweaking in places.....

THE NEW PENALTY METHOD SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

Fantastic game. To extend its longevity, would it be possible to enhance the 'Story of Qualifying' section to include some of the world's cup greatest moments. Play as Maradona in the 1986 semi final or England vs West Germany in 1966 etc...

I thought it was good but I noticed that there was a goal awarded when the ball went over the bar and dropped under the roof of the net, and it turned out to be a goal, it was easy to see on instant replay.

Hey! Could EA give us (the world cup game players) an update to the world cup qualifiers go all the way back to the start, like go to the first round of qualifiers in all the continents (Europe, South-America, CONCACAF, Asia, Africa and Oceania).

I just want to do all the qualifying stage in all the continents. I know I can costumize the teams and replace it in the place of other teams, but I really want to respect the real fixtures and give the glory to small teams that can't compete in the qualifying stage, such as Timor Leste, Macau, and many others that can't have a dream to compete in a world cup.

So please EA SPORTS do an update to able me and many others to play the entire qualifying stage, because I know that I'm not the only one that

world cup penalties r awsome keep it 4 11 plzzzz if u dnt like it trust me u'll get used 2 it nd end up likin it the good thing about it is it brings alot more possibilities 2 where u can put the ball but atleast keep the fake shot

Better gameplay than 10, penalties were awful though.

i thing fifa world cup was good but some things needed to change like when a country's national anthem came on it would go to the other team and when it was raining in the game as soon as the players walked out the were soaked also on the subject when the camera went on the manager he was dry these were the only really bad things i noticed

Good game, but there are just a few little niggles. The goalie AI needs to be improved when defending a counterattack. The goalie will stand 15 yards off his line even though the opposition is deep into his half. And it would have been better if you had included all the potential players for each country, as this would have a reflected the selection process better when setting up the game.
Someone else also mentioned the referee, he does get in the way a bit too much. Maybe every now and then, but not a few times every game. Also, giving yellow cards 20 minutes after the offence has taken place is not realistic. Plus they don't seem to play advantage in the right places, when you are clear on goal and the ref calls it back for a free kick on the half way line. Bit odd.
Otherwise a very good game. Shooting is much better.

Overall the coverage and excitement surrounding the World Cup was excellent. My concern with the sport is the constant diving of players to influence referees to award penalties. This puts a negative dark cloud over the sport and players. The final match between Spain and Netherlands i believe was marred by this and reduced my respect for referrees and players

Sometimes, your player scores a goal and instead of the celebrations u get to see your player doing the animations of a disappointed miss again and again without being able to end it. Big problem.

Another would be a rather minor one but i think the vuvuzelas should have been louder :P

I love this game. It would have been great if the Philippines were included in this game regardless of the fact that they didn't compete in this year's world cup. You need to make a DLC pack for this kind of stuff.

i brought this game so i could finaly play with south african players, all you did was transfer the squads u had from fifa 09 an 10 to the world cup game. the squad is inaccurate! we are the host nation sum effort could of been put in! the lifespan of the game is every short some extras are needed. and mayb you should include all continetal international compertions eg. afcon, copa america. and the confed cup should be included.

How about you actually make great players act like it in the game. Buffon gives up an easy goal from 35m away...when it was right at his feet!!!!!! I agree with everyone else too, you need to let the players keep composure and not lose it if a goal is conceded. Too many times I have seen Carlos Tevez or Klose lose the ball when it was a soft pass at the feet. I see it all the time online as well. Either my star player(s) or the opponents, they always let it slip away and it costs them the game. How many easy goals do you have to watch before you fix it? My keeper saves it but the CPU defender runs into him and knocks it loose. Lastly, why do you have to keep downloading the squad roster over and over. I get done with a game online, start a new one and have to download the same roster I just downloaded and saved 20 minutes earlier. Disappointed

Can't tell who I am in multiplayer (blue/red) because of the new outlined icon ...nightmare! A change for the worse that's really spoiling fifa night here.

i am big fan of FIFA world CUP but this year it has been really frustrating for all of us here to listen to that Bee Music in the background of any match. Till last world cup we always listen to people cheering and singing but in this world cup in south Africa Music in the Background is "Pain in the ASS". Requesting you to STOP it and strictly and lawfully advice people not to play any instruments in the Background.
Would be Appreciated

you should make every team have real kits not some stupid fake ones
also we should be able to use our virtiul pros score in fifa 10 for this game and be able to pick our stats for a created player like in fifa 10.
everytime i edit my virtiual pro and my created player in this game it never saves. evrytime i turn the game off and i play it again it changes back to normal or if i go to a game mode then comeback to play a kickoff match it never saves in this game.

Some of the calls made by the referee in the US/Slovenia, Koman Colibaly, most notably the disallowance of the goal off of the free kick, were not just poor, but outrageous. Even the commentators were shocked and upset. My spectator circle felt, as Landon Donovan described himself after the game, 'gutted'. The US was robbed of a very fine and deserved win. This is a worldwide arena with lives, careers, money and national pride dependent on the outcomes. An official as incompetent or influenced should not be allowed to serve in that venue. He makes Cup officiating appear suspect.

i think the south african team needs more practice and there is no team work as shabalala wants to lay alone! and the team isn't defending at all

Why isn't there a squad selection option and a kit number option. as is i have to use the default squads with some of my favourite players missing and if i want to change their squad numbers i have to mess about individually editing each player's number AND in the finals players keep their squad numbers from qualifying even if the numbers are over 23 which isn't allowed because in real life you have to assign the numbers 1-23 to your players
