FC 26 Ultimate Team Starter Guide

FC 26 Ultimate Team Guide

This is a complete beginner's guide to EA Sports FC 26 Ultimate Team (UT), designed to help you get started if you’re new to the most popular mode in the FC series. From setting up your first squad to earning rewards and trading on the Transfer Market, here’s everything you need to know to kick off your Ultimate Team journey.

Fire Up Your FC 26

Ultimate Team is one of the main game modes inside EA Sports FC 26. To access it, you first need to launch the FC 26 game. If you’re new to the series, follow our getting started guide to learn how to install, configure, and begin playing.

What is FC 26 Ultimate Team?

Ultimate Team (UT) is EA Sports FC’s flagship mode where you can build your dream squad using any FC 26 players, managers, and club items. You’ll earn rewards by playing matches, completing challenges, and trading items. The more you play, the better players and upgrades you can unlock, strengthening your squad over time.

Players, Items & Rewards

Everything in Ultimate Team comes in the form of cards — including players, managers, staff, club items, and consumables. These can be:

Coins are mainly earned from playing matches and trading, while FC Points are premium currency purchased in the UT Store.

What is Chemistry?

Chemistry in FC 26 is player-based and measured with up to three diamonds shown beneath each player card. The more diamonds that light up blue, the stronger the chemistry bonus for that player. Players on zero chemistry play at their base attributes. Chemistry only provides positive boosts, so building chemistry effectively will help you maximize squad performance.

Chemistry is earned through:

  • Nation: having players of the same nationality
  • League: teammates from the same league
  • Club: players from the same club
  • Manager: matching league or nationality with your manager

Maximizing chemistry across your squad is important to get the best performance from your players.

Getting Prepared and Started

If you’re moving from FC 25 to FC 26, you can carry over your data and progress. Make sure you complete this step before starting UT so you don’t miss out on returning player rewards.

Follow the In-game Setup

When you open Ultimate Team for the first time, you’ll be guided through a setup sequence to create your club. Here’s what to expect:

Select a Country

Pick a country for your starter pack. This determines the nationality and league of many of your first players, which helps build early chemistry links.

Your First Squad

You’ll receive a starter squad of 22 players plus one loan player (usable for a limited number of matches, usually five). This gives you enough depth to start competing immediately.

Club Identity

Choose your club’s home and away kits along with a crest. These can be changed later as you earn and unlock more customization items.

Learn & Upgrade or Play Now

After setup, you can either play your first match right away or go through tutorials and objectives to upgrade your squad first. We recommend completing objectives early to maximize rewards.

Complete Objectives

Objectives are grouped challenges that reward you with packs, coins, and players. Complete as many as possible to quickly grow your squad.

Claim Rewards & Open Packs

Packs earned from objectives or bought from the Store will appear in My Packs (UT Home > Store). Open them, claim your items, and update your squad with your best players.

Play a Match

Your first matches are crucial. Start with Squad Battles (offline vs. AI) to learn gameplay and earn weekly rewards. Every match gives you coins, which can be spent on the Transfer Market.

Keep Playing & Exploring

The more you play, the more rewards you’ll unlock. Here are key activities to grow your squad in FC 26 Ultimate Team:

Keep an eye out for promotions and special packs to unlock rare cards. Playing consistently and exploring all modes is the fastest way to improve your team.
