Position Modifier cards in FUT 22 are consumable items that can be applied to a player to change their preferred position.
Using a positioning card you can change a player’s position to another in case you want to get a better outcome or chemistry rate from that player in your squad. A Position Modifier item can only change a specific position to a compatible one which is written on the card.
In FUT 22, there are 21 types of position modifier cards for defensive, midfield and attacking positions:

How to Apply Positioning Cards to a Player?
To apply position modifier items to a player card, go to your Squad in FUT, select your player and bring up the Player Actions screen (PS4: Square button / Xbox: X button), Apply Consumable, then select a position modifier card from the Positioning tab.
Where to Find Position Modifier Cards?
Player position modifier cards can be found in the FIFA 22 packs or be gained as rewards. You can purchase and trade position change items in the Transfer Market – Under the Consumables section.
Can I Change a Player’s modified position back to its Original Position?
Yes. Any changed position can be changed back to its preferred (original) one. To do so, you need to find a position modifier card that change your current position to the position that your player had originally.
Can I Change a Goalkeeper’s Position?
No. Goalkeepers’ position cannot be changed to anything else.

You can make a cdm from an st player but you can’t make a cdm from a cb player. This is ridicilous.

FIFA must accept change positions to L to R – ONLY IF the player has a good L/R foot – (like Cancelo who plays as RB and LB) – and Middlefield line – Left – center – Right – for the same reason.
