A versatile and well-balanced formation which is suited to attacking both through the middle and from out wide.

4-3-3

A formation that allows easier control of possession. Although this formation makes pressing from the front easier when defending, be aware that this may also create spaces on both flanks for opponents to exploit in the middle of the park.

A formation geared towards counter-attacking football with plenty of depth in central midfield. Quality in the attacking midfield slots are essential.

4-3-1-2

A formation suited to attacking through the middle with a large concentration of players in central midfield.

4-2-3-1

A flexible formation where numbers in midfield allow the team to play possession football or attack from out wide.

4-2-1-3

A formation with a greater focus on defence than the 4-1-2-3. Requires high-calibre offensive midfielders for it to work.

4-1-4-1

A formation that emphasises defending by placing a player between the midfield and the defence line. Requires high calibre players up front when attacking.

An attack minded formation which sacrifices strength in midfield.

A formation where players are positioned evenly on the pitch. It is an offensive formation best suited to attacking from out wide.

3-2-4-1

A formation with great depth in midfield which makes it suitable for possession football as well as attacking from out wide.

A versatile well balanced formation which is best suited to attacking from out wide.

3-1-4-2

This formation places more players in the centre of the field. Physical fitness is required for players on both flanks as they need to cover a large area of the pitch.

5-3-2

This formation places players in defensive positions, with an emphasis on central defending. Requires high calibre players up front when attacking.

5-2-2-1

This formation places players in defensive positions. Best suited for orchestrating counter attacks from the flanks.
