Even though 08 is miles ahead of all the previous soccer games when it comes to realism there is a few irritating flaws with the game.
1. You cant decide for yourself if the player should meet the ball when passed to. He only does it randomly. PES did very well on this aspect. (To bad the rest of the game had BIG flaws)
2. Defencive AI inside and around the box is rubish.
3. Players on the same team colliding waaaaaay to mutch. Its good the players have actual weight, it adds realism. But tone it down 5 notches!
4. GIVE US A DECENT TROUGH PASS!!! EA obviously tried to make it less effective. But they ended up making it almost totally useless. Can only be used on the wings, and barely then.
5. Freekicks. Add some realistic curling to the ball. Look over at your foes in PES. They have the right idea here. No shame in checking out the competition.
6. The keeper seems timid and undetermined when rushing out. Give the poor guy some autorithy :D

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LEAVE ALL THE GOOD STUFF THAT WORKS BEHIND!!!!!

1. with all the points ratings after the games why is’nt there a player of the year at the end off the season…
2.the same with the goal scoring stats …weres the golden boot at the end of each season..
3.european player of the year and world player of the year..
4.a nice ceromomy for each award is not to much to ask is it…..
5.on default replays take the action further back so you can see the build up play with all the one-twos and magic skills rarther than just seeing the final shot on goal..
6.goal of the season award…..?iam am sure with all the power of the next generation games these little add ons are well withincapabilities and would add a great realism to the whole game..
Bobby has made some grt suggestions. I also think that if you have a player that is say 78 overall skill rating or above, no matter what country the player is from, he should be elligable to play in euro, asian cup, world cup, or african cup. It should be an option to a) make player stay, b) let him compete in cup,,c)ask for compensation. All optiomns can have negative/positive effect on morale, contentness etc. More emphasis should be placed on building a squad, and playing young/ fringe players in cup games, and rewarded by giving xtra experience pts when u play an inexperienced player in a leaugue or cup game, also more realistic fatigue on top players, to encourage using all members in ur squad. Also camera options need to be better. The skill moves are ok but very rarely did i ever get a chance to use them. But still 08 kicks but on pes 8 by far
when you finish season after season winning whatever league you play,n it gets a bit tiresome. But If u were able to change ur teams kits player looks etc, and have a more engaging MANAGER MODE, it would make things better. Also there is still the issue of players running like they r on tracks. Tha needs to be fixed. Scoring is the main game of football, so when a goal is scored do a CUT AWAY SCENE with better goal cellebrations, MAKE IT more of an event when a goal is scored.And BE A PRO ONLINE MUST BE an option availiable to play a full season/ carreer in. Def need the option to change team kits.
You should be able to change the goalkeepers shirt to different colors and styles and change their gloves.
Well first of all i have ditched fifa for pro up unitl the new game ea brought out this year, fifa 08 was so much more advanced than previosu years and equally if not better than pro this year round. Perhaps fifa have now (after 8 long years) finally caught up with konami’s pro evo. One thing about fifa is that they have made it so realistic compared to pro’s arcadie style of gameplay. Things in my opinion that need to be changed are first of all EDITING! This is one advantage that pro has over fifa, the power to edit aspects of the game can change the perception in which everyone plays! Yes, fifa has a sort of edit mode this year but how crap is it that you need enough points to be even able to chnage stats! More editing options are a must. Another aspect that i hate about fifa is that the players seem so slow, if c.ronaldo or henry are running at a defender they should be able to bomb past them without difficulty!! The tricks are good but are annoying to pull off and are often not used. The shooting is another annoying aspect, if wayne rooney is shooting at goal I want to see the ball travelling fast through the air not looping, and every shot always seems to curl outwards annpying if your running diagonally towards goal and cannot curl the ball! A ref and linesman would be good! The crowds sounds are pretty gash too considering when you score a goal and it takes 2 seconds to acknowledge that youve scored! Keepers are too easy to beat 1 on 1. Team management needs to be looked at, for example when scrolling dwon the team should be quicker when you click someone to take off surely you should be able to press right on the d pad or analog stick and it shud scroll dwon to the subs bench like pro and not click off the perosn you have just clicked to be subbed an amazingly annoying factor!! The reffing needs to b sorted the amount of fouls that happen that arnt even fouls is riduculous! Cup games and finals should be made so that you actually feel like your playing in a cup final rather than just another old game! Plus seeing your team lift the cup wouldnt be so bad! More creation editing for players would be great to! Through ball needs to be looked at it basically never works! However this game is great above all those factors and has definitely beaten pro this year but i think in order to repeat next year then there going to have to improve and add on the areas i have mentioned!!!!
u should put in the scottish stadiums like celtic park and hampdem park
during carreer mode,every 4 years take a break for league games and create a world cup, and be able to choose the player available at that time for whatever natinal team you choose . after world cup is over go back to leagues. have this done ever 4 years since the leagues last 20 years.
i hope fifa 2009 have more national teams and central american teams also…i would like to be able to create a goal celebration…like taking up the shirt, going to the fans…keep up the good work
you should be able to have training mode
In career mode after a while many of the older players leave and about 10 seasons into the game there are hardly any good players around. the generic players are all average but you don’t get any players with the potential of reaching Ronaldo’s, Messi’s or Pato’s standard. The best you can find is about an overall of 85 – 90. Maybe there shud be more of a fuss about upcoming talent in the transfer markets with real generic superstars.
How abt a few more commentators? not that Clive and Andy are becoming monotonous. lol…
And i didn’t at all like the penalty shoot outs. it was confusing and almost impossible to control which way you are shooting. There shud atleast be a power-up bar.
There shud be a few more upsets on quick simulations.
And i agree that sometimes the injuries shud be more serious and frequent. maybe have some stretchers on the pitch and hav the commentator talk abt the injury a little more.
Maybe also have the team’s sponsor (in career mode you get to choose) on the jerseys.
I also noticed that in career mode after around 8 seasons, the amount of decisions you have to make in terms on the multiple choice problems you recieve on ur voicemail reduces significantly. Later on it completely disappears. maybe continuing it right throughout all 15 seasons would take away from some of the monotony.
Scouting is almost always ineffective.

I hate that Stadium de la artez everysingle game i play in that.
everysingle game is on that stadium unless u get a real stadium for the big teams n i noe its hard to fit in alot of real stadiums but aleast have stadiums like euro div 1 etc and keep changin everygame and not the same stadium for everygame it gets boring…..

also the finals of each cup y is it play in a home stadium for example fa cup its played on old trafford wen i was using man utd.. dis goes the same for champions league and fa cup
the champions league games should b played at night like real life and should have the athem played at every champsleague games..
it will b better also to call the cups as champions league than ECC and uefa cup rather than EFA cup….
there should also b international tournaments like euros or the coppa america during the off season when the event is happening.
add more leagues there so many talented player outtherer that are not featured in the games just coz theyre league arent in it.
players from the argentian league or the j league insted we have players from eng league 3..i don mine the div 3 in eng all im saying is thre should b more leaguss in the game…

a – I would like to be able to bring up my tall centre backs for corners like chelsea do with John Terry i dont think this is currently possible.
b – When creating a team i would like much more freedom on style, crest, colour and with all the lovely licenses in Fifa could you not use one as a sponsor for you own created kit i dont know if you could do that but imagine your own team with their own kit you’ve made and a proper sponsor on the shirt eg panasonic, phillips, coca-cola.
Hvaing been an avid fan of the Fifa series for many years I have seen it become the fantastic game it now is however there are still some major issues that must be rectified.
1 – There must be a visible ref and linesman on screen, if pro evo can do it on the PS2 Fifa must do it on the PS3.
2 – Injuries must be more realistic in there occurence and severity, to go an entire season without 1 injury as i have is great for squad rotation but is incredibly unrealistic especially in a tough league like the premiership this must be adjusted for realism.
3 – I would like to see players called away on international duties such as the world cup, euro cup etc in the career mode as this would again add a true feeling of realism to the game.
4 – I feel more of the players should look like their real life counterparts especially on PS3 where i felt the graphics were incredible however when you got close the players faces did not look like the players they were representing and i feel the faces were more lifelike on the PS2.
5 – One of the new extras you have inc this year was be-a-pro which i have thoroughly enjoyed, I would like to see this in multiplayer if possible and i would love to see this with a career mode as that would really add something innovative to an already incredibly innovative game.
6 – Another thing I would like to see on fifa 09 is the correct feeling of importance when my team win a trophy, as many other comments have said all you get at the moment is a newspaper heading, i would like to see the players i have raised throughout the season and transferred into my team lifting the trophy they have worked hard to earn.
7 – A correct licensed netherlands team would be great.
8 – As many other comments have stated i would like the chance to manage my international teams in career mode perhaps as my managerial rating improved i could take over a country and pick my own team, partaking in friendlies and the like.
9 – When i play career mode i find i enjoy playing with a young squad however as time goes on all the players that are pictured correctly in the game become older just leaving the generic looking players left to purchase this is really off putting for me and i find myself starting again. What i have thought about to rectify this would be although you have the first teams international players pictured why not make under21s teams that would give you the ability to purchase young, upcoming players and have them lookin like they do in real life eg david bentley, ashley young and even new.c steven taylor.

the teams need to automatically gain more people in manager mode. there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to take your create a player along with you because the “team is too small”
The irish League from Northern Ireland and also the setanta cup and it would be good to see the scottish 1st devision as well
You have to enable the Broadcast camera on PS3 this time othewise it is pointless. I still can’t understand why it wasn’t there with Fifa 08.
i think having more international teams and a world cup qualifying is great, for a true soccer fanatic if there is an euro cup why not copa america i mean brazil and argentina are probably the best teams in the world and they participate in this tournament, also fifa has a great information of players from all over the world why not put their nationality it will be kinda nice to have carrer mode international, coach can search for national players all over the world.
it should show the crowdz expressions ex. if a goal is scored against their supporting team they would be booing the other team
show the manager standing ex. yelling at his players when they’re under pressure and losing.
and also the manager huging or shaking hands with his assistant coach when their team scores.

It’s killing me that for example a Spanish or Dutch team is playing in a stadium with a English commentator
At least put in a commentator of the teams language so closer to realism.
1) have the ref on the pitch at all times.
2) have the lines men as well.
3) have a wider range of celebrations
4) have different players celebrating with the goal scorer, it’s always the defends. Gets boring.
5) after a cup final, all the players do is celebrate in a group and thts it. Alos the commentators just say they won the cup and goodbye.
6) The commentators always say the same thing or the wrong thing. e.g i had a shot at goal, the keeper saves it and the commentators say tht its a goal kick, when its a corner.
7) MORE STADIUMS!!! whenever you play against a crap team like sunderland or west ham you always play in the same stadium
8) have a choice of areas in the main menu where you get to practice.
9) team creator
10) more popular music tht everyone knows. Not just 3 songs.
11) free kicks are far too easy to get. i tackle a player and they get a free kick, and whenever they tackle me i dnt get a free kick.

- Menus, music and commentaries in different languages .
- More & more licenced teams, kits, stadiums, referees, balls, etc .
- Faster gameplay and faster reaction of the controller options, with new tricks .
- Better physics and graphics (faces and so)

Please please please please please please put in the Greek Super League. Or at least give option of editing team names and players.
- be able to put goalkeepers as outfield players

-have a new control so players can dive and get booked or con the ref
-have non league teams
-have ref and linesman and be able to see the manager on the side of the pitch shouting instructions to the players
-when a goal is scored at home the level of noise from the crown should be higher especially in stadiums such as old trafford, st james park etc
-Have the original training mode back aswell as the arena at the beggining of the game
-be able to alter the squad for the world 11 team
-have more premier league stadiums such as white hart lane, upton park, city of manchester stadium, villa park etc.
-have the volume of noise from the crowd increased when a sub comes on and when a player comes on as as a sub after a long injury.
-have players being carried of by a physio when they are slightly injured or be carried off on a strecher when they have a servere injury.
-Be able to change the difficulty level of the goalkeeper.
-Have real referees not some fake named ones.
-Be able to create your own club, kit, stadium and boots.
-have a golden boot award for the top scorer at the end of the season.
if u can try and put the non league teams and the conference
Things that are missing in Fifa08:
1. 2 minutes per half !!
2. Choose stadium, ball, weather etc in Lounge
3. Tournament with any quantity of team, for example league with seven teams directly followed by knockout with four best teams.

if you could create an international mode could you add a qualification mode for the big tournaments like the world cup. Could you also create and international selection so every time there is an international match coming up, you as a manager could select players from that particular country that you are managing e.g England, and you can see whether that particular player is doing well for its club by checking its overall or how many goal they have conceded etc. And if your not doing well with that particular country then you would get warnings and finally get sacked. So its really a bit like a normal manger mode but more realistic and fun.
when in transfer season, and you want to buy a player but they do not want to come to the club you are at, could you add why the reason they didnt want to come and how much there asking for. and could You add loan deals when not in transfer season, just like they do in real football
FIFA 08 looks good this year but it’s missing something-referees and linesman. Can you put referees and linesman in the next game to make it look more realistic? Please? What about international tournament like the African Cup of Nations or something like that?
Please but the ethiopian football team in the next fifa and other african countries as i think they all deserve it. You could also try add that at any half time of any match on fifa you could add a saving option so that we could play the second half another time. And finally could you please add the world cup, the euros and african cup of nation competitons on the game and put a manager mode for countries so players could manage countries as well as clubs if you know what i mean. And if you could, can you add more leagues into the game preferably the ethiopian league and a lot of the african ones too.
Substitutions: If a player on the field is a caption and he’s coming off the field,
That caption should give away his band to the new caption before he leaves the field,
And also the officials should stand on the sideline with that board. And if two players are coming off two players should be seen getting off and two coming in. And also the players should be doing some warming up before you make the substitution.
The Crowd: The should get louder when u plays home. And there should be
A favorites player, which whenever he has the ball they should makes some kind of happy sound. And they should be whistling if they are losing home match and it’s almost time. And also more fun in the crowd. Cause they really looks boring.
Bench: This is something we’ve been wishing for since fifa 06.Well fifa 06 on XBOX360.
I will say it was the best football game ever. Less features but really it was a great game.
Coaches being seen how stressful they look. And the substitutes on that bench.
This is what we are all hoping to see on the next fifa 09. Did Fifa knew that some peoples bought XBOX360 and Playstation 3.Because they thought they would have a better gameplay with more features? But even that’s where the whole game gets really messed up. It’s really annoying to spend so much money to buy a game which even current version is 90% better than it. It’s stupid really. MAKE A GAME THAT PEOPLES WHO SPEND THEIR MONEY TO BUY WANTS.NOT WHAT YOU PEOPLE WANT.
Weather and Field: Weather is something which we all know it wasn’t even featured in fifa 08.
Which is very bad.Becauce that’s one reason which makes people says pro evolution is better football game. And I think they are right in some reason. Because they do add almost every little detail in football in their game, they even let the menace’s come and pick up the injure player of the field. And I think EA can do better than that. There have to be rains, Snows and the players jersey are suppose to get dirty even if there were no rain or bad weather. I mean this all those things which make people say Pro Evolution is better football game. And yes the weather should be change by it self’s. Which will also depend on the period of the season?
Players: The players this is were the whole game counts. The players were very big. They looked like they are in Gear of War and Halo. This is crazy. Footballers are not that big.
You guys said they have AI and all kinds of stuff and they react to every thing which is going on around them. And I will like to tell u guys if a player gets hit by hard shoot they don’t even react. This is crazy because they do react in the current version.
But I think the players were all great, just they were too big they need to be little slim.
And if u creates a player why the player gets to be over 80 before they can do some tricks.
That’s not cool. You are supposed to be able to make some moves when you’re over 70+.
And after the half time they should walk back to the field and kind of see them talking. ONES AGAIN SYOP MAKING GAMES YOU GUYS WANT WE ARE THE ONES WHO SPEND MONEY TO BUY THOSE BULLSHITS YOU GUYS HAS BEEN MAKING FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS.
Tricks: Well the tricks were nothing. You guys better make a game with stuff were they fun ask for. We are not looking for a game with all that expensive features we just want a simple game with a lot of details. We’ve been asking for it since 1998.Then u guys made a great game 2006 on PS2. And for the first time on Xbox360: Road to The fifa world cup
My God that was a great game. Just simple game with simple tricks, there were less team but really I loved that game. I got fifa 08 but still enjoy that game more. Really we don’t need that entire expensive trick moves which u can’t even pass a single player with. Just give us the same moves on road to the fifa world cup. And make a great game. That all we need.
Stadiums: Did you guys know that we play 80% of an every season in the game. For example if you’re an Amsterdam’s FC Ajax manager, then you’re going to play all the matches in one stadium which is very annoying sometimes. You guys don’t need to make the same stadium as the one in Amsterdam. But just create more stadiums, at lease just design something of your own which will make us play on different fields.
See we love Fifa games, but you just don’t care about what we want. You guys I am very sure that fifa has lost 1000s of funs since Pro evolution started making games the funs want. We thought maybe PS2 is old so u guys will make something great on the Next Gen version. But even that’s where the whole game got messed up

I think the new fifa should have:
1) Referee & Linemans
2) Seeing teams lifting the trophies
3) Final’s held at wembly
4) Late goal celibrations e.g. when a team get a late leveler or winning players pile on goalscorer
hey guys good job on fifa 08. you’ve built a great blueprint to start your next-gen series with… here are a few things i would like to see on 09.
1.players with their realistic celeabrations after a goal( ex. kaka’s finger pointing while jogging, or landon donovan’s two hand chest pat after he scores).
2.different ways of taking free kicks( ex. germany’s free kick against costa rica in which t. frings scored a beautiful goal).
3.you guys already know you need more stadiums, and some more leauges for fans from other countries.
4.put more emotions in the rivalry games or in big cup games. have the players on the pitch to be amped up for these games.
My suggetions:
- World cup tournament
- Referee
- South African teams
-Being able to play on the same team in online multiplayer mode whether it be 2, 5 or 11 players
- Full practice mode
-World 11 team featuring all of the greats
-Able to alter the play/game speed.
-MOST IMPORTANTLY, the ability to customise your buttons!!! How difficult can it be to add this to the current button config.? If not, please change the SWITCH player button back to “x” as L1/R1 is killing the game.
Fifa 09 should hav better visual(but not so excessive), more physics and maybe some random stuff eg referee get cramped, boot goes off from player,stadium suddenly blackout, dumb fan running on pitch etc..yea it sometime happen in real life.
